Spring Cleaning 101

Spring is the perfect opportunity to reset your space! Here are some of the best things to do for a thorough spring clean:

1. Declutter First

  • Go room by room and get rid of anything you no longer use or love. If you have not used it within the last year or two, it’s time to move on.

  • Sort into piles: Keep, Donate, Sell, Trash.

  • Prioritize by importance and start small. Think about closets, kitchen drawers and cabinets, and your garage.

  • Consider storing winter gear for the warmer month to create more space.

2. Deep Clean Your Home

  • Dust everything, including ceiling fans, baseboards, vents, and behind furniture.

  • Wash windows inside and out. Remember to take off the screens!

  • Clean light fixtures and replace any burnt-out bulbs.

  • Shampoo carpets and deep clean rugs and upholstery.

  • Mop floors thoroughly, especially in high-traffic areas.

3. Focus on Forgotten Areas

  • Clean behind and underneath appliances (fridge, oven, washer/dryer, under beds).

  • Wipe down walls and touch up paint if needed.

4. Organize Storage Spaces

  • Tidy up the pantry, garage, attic, and crawlspace.

  • Invest in bins, baskets, or shelving systems to keep things orderly.

  • Label storage containers to easily find items later.

5. Freshen Up Your Bedrooms

  • Flip or rotate mattresses.

  • Organize bedside tables.

  • Refresh your closet for the upcoming season. Consider storing winter clothing elsewhere to free up some additional space.

6. Give the Kitchen a Reset

  • Deep clean your fridge and pantry β€” toss expired items.

  • Vacuum inside drawers and cabinets.

  • Wipe down cabinets, backsplash, and appliances.

  • Clean the inside of your oven and microwave.

7. Tackle Outdoor Spaces

  • Sweep porches and patios.

  • Clean outdoor furniture and wash windows outside.

  • Start prepping your garden: pull weeds, trim plants, and maybe plant spring flowers.
